We wake up, we wash up, we continue our daily routine without much fanfare. We go to our jobs, we come home, we cook dinner, we manage our homes, we go to sleep and do it all over again. I am a cilantro fanatic !! Im always finding recipes where I can incorporate it in the dish. Everything from eggs to nachos, I try to add cilantro. My problem was when I brought it home from the store if it wasn’t used quickly enough, It went bad. I was constantly buying it. So when I found this handy way to keep cilantro on hand, I was so excited. I bought some and it now sits in my window sill next to my aloe vera and basil plant. All you need to do is get a small bowl or glass and add your cilantro and a small amount of water to the bottom. That’s it, that’s all !!! Now you (and I) will always have this fresh tasting herb plant on hand !!
How EXCITED was I when I found this phenomenal way to lighten my hair. I have been thinking about it for a while, and really only wanted to lighten it a few shades. This easy to follow recipe is simple and you can leave it on 4 hours to over night. Cinnamon is a know skin irritant so if you feel any tingling or burning you will want to wash it out, but I would also suggest adding shea butter or olive oil to your scalp and hairline to make sure the mixture doesn’t come in contact with these sensitive skin areas. - Your Favorite Conditioner
- Ground Cinnamon
- Plastic Processing Cap
- Honey (optional; has additional bleaching and moisturizing properties)
- Time (Depending on preference;anywhere from 4 hours-overnight)
- Soft bonnet hair dryer/heating cap (optional)
Step One: Prepare Cinnamon Mixture
Add the conditioner, cinnamon, and honey (if desired) together in a plastic container. The amounts needed are determined by the amount of hair you have. Make sure that you have added at least 3 tablespoons of cinnamon to make sure you get even color rather than streaks of color. However, it is okay to add more. Mix the contents together with a plastic spoon as metal can react with your mixture. Cover the mixture while you wash your hair.
Step Two: Shampoo/Co-wash and Condition Hair as Usual
Nothing new here. Wash and condition your hair as you normally would. It’s best to detangle your hair here rather than saving it for later. Braid hair in sections to prevent tangling during application of cinnamon mixture.
Step Three: Apply Cinnamon Mixture to Sectioned Hair
Applying the mixture to sectioned hair ensures that you are coating all the strands. Your hands are the only tools you need for the application. Since you detangled prior to it should be easy for you to finger-comb the mixture through your hair. Re-braid the section and move on to the next section. Complete this step over entire head. Cinnamon is a known skin irritant so it may tingle for a few minutes but it will go away. If the tingling persists or becomes unbearable, rinse it out immediately.
Step Four: Processing Time
There are a few options for this step. You want to treat this mixture like you would a deep conditioning treatment. Place the plastic processing cap over your hair. You can either sit under a bonnet dryer/heating cap for 30 minutes or you can wrap a warm towel around your head for 30 minutes. Another option is to just let your body heat do the work for you for the entire processing times. Whatever option you choose, the mixture should stay in your hair for at least 4 hours. The longer the processing time, the more results you will see. Therefore overnight is the best option.
Step Five: Rinsing the Mixture Out
Make sure you rinse the mixture out completely. The pressure from running water straight from the bath tub faucet can help in rinsing the majority of the mixture from your hair.
Step Six: Enjoy Your New Color
While you shouldn’t expect your hair to go from brunette to blonde, you can expect hair that is 2 shades lighter than your original color. The more applications you do, the more change you will see.

After a bout with a cold, flu, or stomach virus it is always recommended to add electrolytes back into your diet. Usually, we will run to the store grab the pedialyte and call it a day. But me being an avid label reader, seeing all the unreadable and unknown substances in it caused me great alarm. So of course through research I found a super easy way to make your own electrolyte drink. Its perfect for the whole family and its great to have on hand just in case. - 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 cups of water (filtered or purified) or raw coconut water
- 2 tbsp organic raw honey or organic maple syrup
- 1/8 tsp Himalayan Pink salt or Celtic sea salt (I like Himalayan better – it has 84 trace minerals)

I don’t wear a lot of makeup but the main staples in my cosmetic bag includes eyeliner,shea lip gloss and mascara. I love the look of long,beautiful lashes to make my eyes “pop”. My thoughts came around to finding a way to grow beautiful lashes, naturally and I found that fractionated coconut oil (sold by DoTerra)can help. I used an old mascara bottle that I cleaned out and added the coconut oil. By applying every night before bed, I noticed that my lashes were getting longer and stronger. Now I can have long lashes without all the harsh chemicals that are in regular mascaras!!
The news so far has painted a grim picture of the flu epidemic and almost everyone in our house has had some form of cold. We keep ginger,lemons,honey and tea on hand to get us back to feeling one hundred. With having young kids we look for different ways to bring relief and these vapor disks work great. 1 cup Baking Soda
1/3 cup Water
Essential oils; eucalyptus,rosemary and lavender
Add baking soda to a bowl. Slowly stir in water until a thick paste forms (feels like putty). Spoon your mix into the liners in the muffin pan and bake for 20 minutes at 350. Add 15 drops of each essential oil to each disk.
Make sure to remove them from the liners before using them in the shower
