DIY-Body Wash with coconut oil

I absolutely love coconut oil, so when i found a recipe that incorporates that into a body wash I was so excited !! It’s a process to make it, but it’s not really that hard. The end result is a phenomenally hydrating wash, that will leave you fresh and glowing. I use glycerin a lot in my DIY so it’s a great product to have on hand at all times. Check out this easy recipe:

You’ll need:

1 bar of soap (Dr Bronner’s Castile is great)

1/2 tbsp glycerin

4 cups water

1/2 cup pure coconut oil

 

Grate your soap of choice with a cheese grater

Put your grated soap in a large pot with the water,coconut oil and glycerin

Heat on medium heat until all of the soap is dissolved

When the soap is dissolved the water will look like murky dish water

Turn the heat off and cover overnight to set

When you return to your soap it will be very thick and jelly like, use a mixer or wisk to mix the soap to a smooth consistency

You can add up to two cups of water to get it to the consistency you like ( I added one extra cup of water for my liking)

You can then leave the soap for another 12 hours to ensure it is the right thickness

Use a funnel to put the body wash in an appropriate container (It makes a lot so you may need one container to store it and one to use in the bathroom )

This body wash does not lather like regular body wash because we have taken out the harsh sudsing agents but it still works well and it is healthy and great for your skin !!

Lets Make a Vision Board !!!!

What is a vision board you ask….A vision board is a visualisation tool that helps you reach goals and think positively about your future. A vision board basically consists of a piece of construction paper and magazines, print-outs or written words that have meaning to you. You can cut out the words and pictures from the magazine, write the words etc to make the board a vision of what you want and need from your life. If you look at the board above it is labeled the “Happiness Quest”. This is my own personal board and it is in my room so I can look at it every day. I added words like Free Yourself,Flying High, Find your magic, From Passion to Profit, Stress free and Daily Yoga. I found all these messages that spoke to me in magazines, cut them out and used glue to paste them.Your vision board is a wonderful way to focus on what you want in your life. If words and quotes have more motivating energy for you, add words, if pictures have more motivating energy for you, add pics.

Whatever works to motivate you to your higher purpose is the goal in this project.

Detox….YOUR MIND !!

With all the crazy stuff we see on tv, the problems we have with others, with our jobs, with our families. All those things can build up on us emotionally and cause some real problems. It has been researched that emotional problems can cause us physical ailments. For example if you have a problem with alcohol you might be feeling inadequate, or rejecting yourself. Depression can be linked to feelings of hopelessness and anger.  Heart problems can come from a lack of love for yourself and others, dealing with things from a place of anger, not love and an overall joylessness. It is a must that we take the time to clear our minds and emotions of the leftover ectoplasm of past injustices ,pains  and sorrows. I know I am making it sound so easy and I know it is not, but you do have to start somewhere. Take time to meditate once a day. Start out by finding a quiet spot with no distractions. Sit comfortably and repeat a mantra to yourself that will uplift you and remind you of your purpose. You can also just clear your mind of all thoughts and focus on your breathing. This will help to bring you back to your center and recharge your energy which will help fight off the physical ailments. You can also balance your Chakras. They are the energy fields within your body that can sometimes get out of whack and cause issues. The Chakras consist of the Root , Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third eye and Crown. Any blocks in the Chakras can cause dis-ease, fear, or emotional imbalance. When your Chakras are clear and working together, the higher your vibration and the better you feel. To work on your Chakras you can meditate, as well as use corresponding crystals or colors for each chakra. You can place the crystal on the actual location of the chakra and/or meditate on the color for best results.

The root chakra at the base of the tailbone can be cleared with ruby, garnet or obsidian and the color red.

Your sacral chakra located in the pelvis area can be unblocked with carnelian or amber and the color orange.

Your solar plexus is …yep you guessed it located in the solar plexus area and can be unblocked with yellow as well as amber, yellow tourmaline, citrine and topaz.

The heart chakra..again self explanatory can be unblocked with green or pink and aventurine and rose quartz.

 The throat chakras color is sky blue and celestite, aquamarine and crysocola.

The third eye is located in between your eyebrows and can be healed with the color indigo blue, fluorite , and indigo tourmaline.

The crown located at the top of the head can be unblocked with violet or white and with clear quartz.

If we really care for ourselves we must take the time to really care for ourselves. It is selfish to  not do this. We take the time to help so many others, now is the time to help ourselves. If our well runs dry, how will we be able to give others water. So take the time, breathe deeply, meditate, do yoga, write a mantra to be repeated daily,turn off the tv, enjoy nature, read a great book, smile at yourself in the mirror, enjoy yourself and all your flaws and idiosyncracies….you are unique. Embrace it and Glow with it.

OOO Aromatherapy !!

This is the time of year that we stay in doors, instead of going out. We light fires,make soup,watch great movies and enjoy friends and family. It is also a time where people are hustling and bustling with the holidays and forget to take some time for themselves. Well one answer to beating stress is implementing aromatherapy into your home life. Aromatherapy has been around since Egyptian times and was revered for it effects on physical and spiritual well-being.  You can use essential oils in so many places to give yourself a boost or to wind down. For example you can use lavender or rose on your sheets and pillow cases. Lavender is a calming oil, perfect for insomnia or anxiety and rose is an aphrodisiac and mood enhancer. You can add oil to baths , oil burners, showers or humidifiers. If you add an oil such as pine or cedarwood to your logs, you can burn them and they will release the wonderful aroma through your whole home (Sprinkle the oils a couple hours before you burn the logs.) Research the oil that will be perfect for you mood at the time. If you need a boost of energy and confidence try citrus essences such as Lemon, Lemongrass, or Orange. For anxiety try Bergamot, Chamomile, Cypress, Jasmine, Lavender, or Sandalwood. For colds and flu symptoms try Eucalyptus, Tea tree, Cinnamon, or Rosemary. Oils are highly effective and economical. You can treat your whole family just by boiling some water and adding these essential oils. They smell great and will have you feeling better.

RELAX

It is so easy to get overwhelmed or even sick in our current roles as superwoman, but even she took a break to recharge. As mothers (or fathers) we must take that time for ourselves, life is not about working yourself to the bone, we deserve some” Me time” as well. (P.S. Having “Me Time ” does not make us selfish, it makes us more efficient♥)

Some ideas I have are:

Putting the kids to bed at the same time every night.

Something so simple could give you hours of time that you could read a book, update your blog, take a hot bubble bath, play Xbox or Wii,watch a favorite show, journal,talk to your mate, etc.

Exercise

Making time at least 3 times a week to take care of yourself is so beneficial. Not only does it enhance your health , it boosts your self-esteem and overall wellbeing. So try yoga, zumba, swimming, running,walking,martial arts etc.

Meditation

In the  morning when you rise and wipe the sleep from your eyes Give a proper moment to Bless the day in front of you Give it praise and give it love and it will return that energy to you tenfold.

Just a little rhyme to remember to stop and meditate . It’s nice to stop thinking sometimes about all the work and responsibilities you have, even if it’s just for 1 minute or 30 minutes. Your brain needs that time to recharge, just like your phone or computer. Sometimes it needs to turn off to work properly and benefit from any updates ☺.
